Africa at the Forefront of Plastic Bans

Mali and Mauritania became the next countries of Africa to ban non biodegradable plastic bags. Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa and Kenya have already banned thin plastic bags, while Rwanda and Somalia have banned them completely. Countries like China have began to restrict the use of plastic bags within their country. Italy became the first European country to ban non-biodegradable bags and France is soon to follow suit in 2014, with many cities across the globe from Pakistan to the United States begin to ban non-biodegradable plastic bags.

Plastic Bags

Biodegradable plastic is being utilized around the world due to the restrictions of using non-biodegradable bags. Currently in the European Union levies have been raised creating over 166 million euros for environmental benefits for Europe. Biodegradable plastic initiatives have been slow to catch on, but are now being captured by leading economies of the world. Philippines, Malaysia, Australia and other countries have initiatives to fight the global pollution of plastic with directions for manufacturers to utilize technologies that enhance the biodegradation of plastic. Biosphere plastic is at the forefront of technologies that allows for plastic to be consumed at a much faster rate than hundreds of years when using their technology.
